Wednesday, January 3, 2018 — After months at the table with management, our bargaining team negotiated an overdue wage increase for the upcoming fiscal year.
When we fight, we WIN!
- This agreement means that on January 1, 2019, members in bargaining units A, B, C, D, F, and H will receive a guaranteed 2 percent COLA.
- If revenues exceed projections in 2018, members in bargaining units A, B, C, D, F, and H will also receive an additional .5 percent COLA and a $500 bonus. The State originally offered a ZERO PERCENT guaranteed raise.
- We fought to keep “paid leave” in the definition of “work” to protect overtime pay.
- We also won two additional health benefit premium holidays for a total of FOUR in 2018.
We know our worth!
- We put pressure on Governor Hogan and management at the table and in our communities to secure the guaranteed wage increase that our members deserve.
- This is a huge win for our members, but we aren’t done fighting yet. In Annapolis, we’ll fight for stronger rights at work and fair pay.
What happens now?
- Now that we’ve reached a tentative agreement with management, a ratification ballot and information about the agreement will be provided to employees by mail with a self-addressed envelope.
- When you receive the ballot, vote and return as soon as possible. This information will include highlights of our other wins at the bargaining table.
- Follow Council 3 on Facebook and Twitter and check our website for updates about the tentative agreement and the ratification process.
