Md. prison officials, union clash over staffing

Although corrections and union representatives meet annually, this meeting was a prelude to upcoming contract negotiations set to begin in September, and a new prison staffing report required by the end of October.
At this point, the state and the union appear to be poles apart on the depth of the staffing problem and how to fix it. The current contract expires at the end of the year.
