Important Information for AFSCME Members re: 1% Raise
The Hogan Administration is continuing its’ childish games. The Hogan Administration has chosen to try and punish AFSCME bargaining units by trying to deny them their rightful 1% wage increase, due January 2020.
This increase was authorized in the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act of 2019. The General Assembly understood, by its analysis and budgeting, that all State employees would receive the "1% general salary increase on January 1, 2020".
The Hogan Administration will waste vital resources trying, and failing, to deny AFSCME members their 1%. This is vindictive and childish. The Hogan Administration will fail. Vital state resources, which should be focused on providing great services to the residents of Maryland, will instead be used in their petty fight.
They should be spending time trying to figure out solutions to the staffing crisis, and how to continue to provide great services to Maryland residents.
Come to Annapolis on January 14th to fight for fair compensation. The increase would go into effect for the pay date January 22nd, 2020. Filling the streets on the 14th is critical to letting the Hogan Administration know our members won't accept being left out.
