Get to Annapolis on October 29th!

Two Critical Hearings for State Employees Scheduled for October 29th
On Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 AFSCME Maryland members are coming together from all across the State of Maryland to make our voices heard in Annapolis. By demanding action from the General Assembly, we were able to win Emergency Staffing Hearings in front the House Appropriations Committee and the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee. The hearing is scheduled on the same day that the Special Joint Committee on Pensions will be holding a hearing about the status of changes to the Retiree Prescription Drug benefits.
We are calling on all AFSCME Maryland members to stand together and put in a day of leave to be in Annapolis. Each of these hearings are critical to recruiting and retaining quality staff and legislators need to see a room packed with State Workers to understand how urgently action is needed.
Details about each hearing are below. Both will be in the Department of Legislative Services Building, Joint Hearing Room at 90 State St, Annapolis, MD 21041. Between the hearings, we will have lunch and activities to engage your elected officials. Transportation available from Eastern Shore, Hagerstown and Baltimore.
