Sabeela Ally
Sabeela Ally currently serves as the Executive Director of AFSCME Maryland. She was unanimously elected to the position by AFSCME Maryland’s Executive Board. As Executive Director, she manages the day-to-day operations of AFSCME Maryland and executes the priorities of our union.
Sabeela has been with AFSCME since 2006. She has over two decades of organizing and leadership experience with AFSCME, having spent over 15 years with the national union as an organizer, strategic researcher, and Assistant Director in the Organizing and Field Services Department. Sabeela has managed large teams of staff and created and led numerous successful organizing programs, including AFSCME Strong, the Student Debt Relief program, and the Cultural Workers United campaign.
For the last 4 years, Sabeela has been with AFSCME Maryland, first as the Organizing Director and then as Chief of Staff. Under her leadership and direction, AFSCME Maryland has organized 9,000 new workers and expanded collective bargaining to thousands more. She oversaw the unification of AFSCME Council 3 and AFSCME Council 67 to create an even stronger AFSCME Maryland.
She was born and raised in Maryland and is grateful to be raising her family in the same neighborhood she grew up in.
