Report highlights state’s staffing crisis and harmful impacts on our communities

Baltimore — On Monday, August 10, AFSCME Maryland released its first-ever 2026 State of Our State Services Report.

This digital report includes an overview of the main issues facing state employees and state services, recommendations to address each issue, and results from a member survey from June. Over 2,500 state employees represented by AFSCME Maryland responded to the survey. The report is divided into three major categories: state of compensation, state of safety, and state of respect.
