Union Victory: Protecting State Employee Raises!

On Tuesday, April 7th, the House and the Senate both passed a state budget that protects upcoming July raises for state employees. With the power of our union and the advocacy of our members, we made sure our elected officials honored our negotiated agreement.

It’s a tough budget year for Maryland, and the budget analysts in the Department of Legislative Services thought recommending cuts to our union’s already-negotiated rises would help close the deficit. They were mistaken.

Through attending numerous lobby nights, making calls and sending emails to their legislators,  our members reminded our elected officials that AFSCME members get the job done. There is no Maryland without us.
